CLEVELAND -- Police and homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was found covered in blood.

She has been identified as Aliza Sherman, 53, of Beachwood.

Police received a call around 5:30 p.m. Sunday for a woman screaming near 75 Erieview Plaza.

When they arrived, police found Sherman covered in blood. EMS transported her to MetroHealth Medical Center where she later died.

Police Sgt. Sammy Morris says Sherman had multiple "defects to the torso" but would not say whether or not they were gunshot wounds. Multiple yellow evidence markers could be seen in the area.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said the autopsy is pending.

Homicide detectives processed the scene and are conducting an investigation. Morris continued to say that police "rarely have problems" downtown

The victim's car was found nearby and was towed from the area.
