CLEVELAND -- A 25-year-old Cleveland man was shot and killed by masked home invaders inside of a west side house during an apparent attempted robbery.
The incident was reported just after 12:30 a.m. at 4405 West 49th Street, between Woburn and Memphis avenues. Four adults and five children were home at the time.
Four masked men with guns entered the home demanding money. As the gunmen searched the home, the children ran into the basement and the adults ran from the gunmen in various directions, an official said.
One of the adults, a 25-year-old man ran upstairs. The gunmen followed him upstairs and shot him in the chest. The man later died at the hospital. He has been identfied by the medical examiner as Antoin Sheffield.
No other injuries were reported. The whereabouts of the masked suspects is not known.
Cleveland homicide detectives are investigating.
