CLEVELAND -- As crews put the final few girders in place on the inner belt bridge this week, more road closures and detours come with it.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is hoping to have the girders down that connect the two sides of the bridge by Friday, but Abbey Avenue will be closed for two weeks.
Motorist trying to get to Tremont can exit off of the existing Innerbelt Bridge, take the I-490 loop, or detour via Willey Avenue and Columbus Road.
Those operating businesses in Tremont say they see a little drop in customers with all the detours, but know they'll get through it.
Rocco Whalen, owner and operator of Fahrenheit says,"We've always lost our avenues to get here as far as an exit or Abbey road. It's connectivity... it connects us to Ohio City so it's going to hurt for a couple of weeks, but follow your detour signs. Maybe check out WKYC for detours and things like that."
Once the construction of this bridge is complete, they'll move traffic over to demolish the old one, before constructing yet another bridge right next to it.
Everything is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
