Sunday more than 8,000 runners took to the streets for the inaugural Rock 'n' Roll Cleveland Half Marathon. Thousands more spectators and fans have lined up on the course route to cheer them on.
The race will take runners on a tour of the home of rock 'n' roll. It will feature live bands, themed water stations and cheerleaders along every mile of the course.
Besides the 13.1 mile half marathon, the race will also feature a 3.5 mile mini-marathon.
Runners and spectators will be treated to a finish line concert presented by the Horseshoe Casino featuring Gavin DeGraw.
The race is expected to bring $10 million into the city. More than a quarter of the runners are from out of state. WKYC is a sponsor of the event.
Race Details:
- Start Time: 8:00 a.m., Sunday, October 6
- Start Line: Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, E. 9th Street and Erieside Avenue
- Finish Line: W. Superior Avenue and W. 3rd Street
- Participants: 8,000 runners
- Road closures/detours: In effect from 7:15 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Roads will reopen on a rolling basis
- Streets along course will be marked as No Parking
- Parking violators will be towed
