Multiple crashes cause tough Thursday commute

The commute was tough throughout Northeast Ohio early Thursday morning as multiple crashes riddled the roadways causing big delays for drivers.

The biggest roadway trouble came in the 6 o'clock hour when a motorcycle vs. car crash clogged I-90 East at Chester Avenue for several hours.

Although I-90 East wasn't entirely blocked off, two lanes of travel were closed at the location of the crash.

This caused heavy delays for miles on multiple major interstates heading into downtown Cleveland including I-90 East, I-77 North and I-71 North.

That wreckage was cleared about two hours after it occurred.

Not long before 8 a.m., crews closed state Route 83 at Smith Road due to a barn fire in Medina County.

At 8:03 a.m., Akron Police issued an alert that traffic was extremely slow due to a multi-vehicle accident on Broadway at Thornton.

Finally, a crash caused the closure of the I-480 eastbound ramp to the I-271 northbound express lanes.
