STOW -- Police say a 12-year-old boy was hurt when he fell down a rocky cliff into the gorge while running from authorities with a friend.
Stow Police say it started around 12:45 a.m. when officers were dispatched to Kent Road near Darrow Road regarding reports of juveniles in the area.
Upon their arrival, officers say the juveniles fled the scene and tried hiding before they were observed running into a wooded area near the gorge.
Moments later, officers located one of the juveniles -- a 12-year-old boy from Munroe Falls -- bleeding from the head after he fell 10-15 feet down the gorge.
Police believe he fell after jumping over a short wall in an attempt to hide.
The boy was rescued, reportedly telling paramedics that he had been temporarily knocked out. He was taken to Akron Children's Hospital for treatment.
Officers became concerned the second juvenile -- a 15-year-old boy from Cuyahoga Falls -- may have also tumbled into the gorge because he could not be located.
After a two-hour search, the juvenile was found hiding at a nearby residence. Police say he was unaware his friend had fallen into the gorge. Officers arrested the teen and placed him in the custody of the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
Both boys have been charged with curfew and obstructing official business.
