CLEVELAND -- As Independence Day celebrations continue this weekend, you'll see plenty of red, white and blue... lights.
The Ohio State Patrol is out in full force, keeping an eye on you and your gas pedal.
This also happens to be the first week for Ohio's new 70 mile per hour speed limit on certain rural interstates like 71 in Medina County.
It seems Ohio drivers are off and speeding as a result.
WKYC's John Anderson rode along with Sgt. Tim Dearmitt, and just minutes into his eight-hour shift, he caught his first speeder.
And that's just one stop.
Throughout the two-day period covering July 3 and 4, the Ohio State patrol made more than 29,000 traffic stops. 1,700 drivers were cited for aggressive driving, many others got tickets for speeding.
