SENECA COUNTY -- Two people from Tiffin are dead after a Friday afternoon head-on crash on Route 224 near milepost 19 in Bloom Township.
Authorities say it was around 6:41 p.m. when an eastbound 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveled left of center and collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Venture minivan.
Two people inside the Venture, identified as 81-year-old Charlotte Schumm (driver) and 82-year-old Donald Schumm, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third person inside that vehicle, 82-year-old Victor A. Reamer, also of Tiffin was taken by LifeFlight to the University of Toledo Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not reported.
All three people in the Silverado were also hurt. The driver, 53-year-old Timothy Voress of Lima, was transported via LifeFlight to the University of Toledo Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. His passengers, a 27-year-old man and 13-year-old boy, also of Lima, were taken to Tiffin Mercy Hospital with what authorities say appear to be non life-threatening injuries.
The crash still remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
A portion of 224 was closed for approximately four hours while troopers and emergency personnel were on scene.
