CLEVELAND -- Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed faced a judge this morning on a charge of OVI and traffic violations. He entered a plea of not guilty on all charges.
Police say Reed was arrested in downtown Cleveland about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning after running a red light and making an improper term. Police allege Reed failed a sobriety test.
When asked where he was going at the time, Reed says he was going back to work at 601 Lakeside to "work on behalf of my constituents."
Reed says he doesn't owe anyone an apology other than himself.
He posted bond Tuesday afternoon and was released. His driving privileges have been suspended because police say he refused to take an alcohol breath test.
Reed's attorney says they will have ongoing discussions with the prosecutor.
Reed served a 10-day sentence in 2008 on his second drunk-driving conviction. He has served on Cleveland City Council for 13 years.
