CLEVELAND -- Even though Northeast Ohio is west of the blizzard hitting the east coast, it is still affecting travelers, especially at local airports.
Cleveland might not exactly be on the itinerary for some people, but they'll find themselves visiting for the night. Cleveland Hopkins International is a "diversion" hub, meaning if a flight can't land in a city hit by the storm, they'll land in Cleveland for the night.
Some airlines canceled flights Thursday, but as the storm rolled through Friday, the departure board at Hopkins lit up with red cancellation notices in any east coast city.
Airport representatives say they don't expect too much of a travel mess in Northeast Ohio, however, people should check their flight status before heading to the airport.
