CLEVELAND -- The Ohio Department of Transportation pretreated the major freeways and roadways as early as 11 p.m. Tuesday.
ODOT plans on having 80 trucks on the roadways for every shift, with shifts continuing through Thursday morning.
Cuyahoga County - Tonight at 11 p.m. a crew of 53 snowplows will hit the road.
Lake County - Wednesday at 4 a.m. a crew of 13 snowplows will hit the road.
Geauga County - Wednesday at 4 a.m. a crew of 14 snowplows will hit the road.
The pretreating consists of salt and brine that will help when the snow starts to fall in earnest.
WKYC's Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling says a blizzard warning is posted for most of the Channel 3 viewing area in the northern counties and a Winter Storm Warning for the other counties in the viewing area,
Snow will move south to north through Wednesday morning into midday with very heavy snow falling in the afternoon and evening.
The snow will affect Sandusky to Mansfield, Cleveland to Millersburg, Ashtabula to Akron, and Canton to Dover to Youngstown and all points in between.
Winds will pick up and accumulations will be 8" to 12," with the heaviest possible along the Interstate 71 corridor.
This is not lake-effect snowfall and will be widespread snow for all of Northern Ohio.
