WKYC Web StaffCOVENTRY TOWNSHIP -- Summit County deputies are investigating an assault at a polling place.
Deputies say they were called to 725 Portage Lakes Drive because a man had coffee thrown in his face.
The victim was displaying political signs at the voting location, when a man starting shouting obscenities at him from inside his vehicle.
The victim told the driver that he was more than 100 feet from the door and was within his legal right to post the signs.
The driver, 58-year-old John Pegley of Coventry Township, allegedly continued to shout at the victim and eventually thew a cup of coffee in his face.
Deputies issued Pegley a summons for assault, a first degree misdemeanor.
