Solon High School student an inspiration

SOLON -- A teenager from Solon High School is an inspiration to many.

Justin Bachman is dealing with Tourette's but he's turned his life challenge into a positive one.

A disorder that causes uncontrollable movements and involuntary vocal sounds.

"He has had to grow up so fast because he had to learn to advocate for himself very early on," said Justin's mother Lisa Bachman.

Justin's journey started in In 7th grade when he was disqualified from a cross country meet.

"I was doing my thing I was ticking and making a lot of noise," says Justin.

The referees of the race thought Justin was being rude with his outbursts, not understanding that he had a special need.

Ron Bachman, Justin's father said, "A lot of the times we would like to find those two officials and say thank you for being as intolerant as they were because they didn't realize the firestorm that they started from this whole thing."

At 13-years-old sitting at the kitchen table Justin decided that he wanted to advocate for people of difference and came up with the Tolerance fair.

"That really pushed me into making it my life's mission to have other people not experience the intolerance that I did," says Justin.

The first Tolerance Fair was held at the Solon Recreation Center and people flocked to it.

"Going to a place like the Tolerance Fair introduces people to resources and groups where they can meet like minded individuals," Lisa added.

Justin is a making a difference and continues to do it though speeches at schools and even on Capitol Hill.

"Being different is being awesome. That every one of us is unique in our own special being and a lot of people don't embrace the differences in themselves," said Justin.

The Tolerance Festival is is free and will be Sunday, March 10th from 2pm to 4pm at the I-X Center.

Dump truck crashes into bridge, closes I-90

CLEVELAND -- Interstate 90 has been closed down after a dump truck crashed into a bridge.

The accident happened on I-90 westbound between E. 156th Street and E. 185th Street.

Police say the truck was traveling with a raised trailer when it hit the bridge causing the truck to roll over.

Police have closed the highway in both directions because the bridge is severely damaged.

There are no serious injuries or fatalities being reported at this time.

Cleveland APL slashes adoption fees during the 2nd Annual WKYC Fur-Get-Me-Not Telethon!

CLEVELAND -- On March 8th, from 4:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Cleveland Animal Protective League will be live on air every hour with WKYC Channel 3 for the Fur-Get-Me-Not Telethon, which will raise funds to help the homeless animals at the Cleveland APL. This hourly broadcast from the Cleveland Animal Protective League will showcase the diverse and meaningful work the Cleveland APL does to rescue, heal, nurture, adopt and advocate for our community and its animals in need. In honor of this special and exciting event, we are extending our adoption hours and reducing our adoption fees. On Friday, March 8, 2013, the APL will be open from 8am until 8pm and all adult cats (1 year and over) will be available for adoption for only $3 and all kittens (under 1 year) will be available for only $33. Cuyahoga Falls High School closed due to bomb threat

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio -- Cuyahoga Falls High School is closed Friday due to a bomb threat, Channel 3 News confirmed.

A message was sent to students in the district informing them of the closure.

Police confirm the school is closed, but are directing all questions about the alleged bomb threat to the superintendent's office.

The superintendent's office has not immediately returned calls for comment.

In the statement released to students, the superintendent stressed that safety is the district's first priority.

Cleveland: Firemen rescue mom and three kids from fire

CLEVELAND -- Firefighters rescued a mother and her three young children Thursday morning from a burning apartment building.

Cleveland fire units were called to the apartment building at 4257 Rocky River Drive around 8:00 a.m.

They responded to reports of smoke billowing out of the second story.

When firefighters arrived, they pounded on apartment doors to get people out.

A young mother was asleep in a unit with her three children, ages two, five and a four month old.

Firemen pulled the four to safety.

The mom said there was no way she could have gotten out of the building without the firemen rescuing her.

She said she was thankful to be alive.

Fire crews are still at the apartment building investigating.
